It took me some time to start my first 1:35 scale diorama. I always thought it to be too difficult and expensive. During the last few years I found out that building dioramas in this scale can indeed become very expensive if you buy all things in a shop. However, the scale lends itself perfectly for scratchbuilding and you'll be amazed how much things you can find in your own garden or how much you can just build yourself using cheap materials. And that has added a new dimension to building the dioramas: finding the most cost effective way to achieve a maximum creative result.
